The Underneath By Kathi Appelt

Amélie kept on telling me to read it. I finally gave in to both Amélie and The Underneath.

It's got so many different feelings and emotions in it, like love, sadness, despair, hatred and forgiveness. A calico cat who has once been loved is abandoned in a forest on the edge of a road pregnant with twins who will never have a normal life. All because of a cruel man and his unloved but kind dog, the calico cat found him singing the blues (whimpering). A snake full of hatred is then full of happiness and then back to hatred. There's more but I don't want to give it all away because then you wouldn't read it.

The more I think about it the more I understand it, I also understand now why Amélie loves The Underneath but I can't tell (more like write) about it all you'll have to read it from Kathi Appelt.

Lauren Child has a very queer way of writing, bacause sometimes it's not the same size and sometimes she makes sentances loop around and around.


Her pictures are all very peculier because it looks like she just cuts up pictures and patterns and sticks them down.

Gregor and the Prophecy of the Bane by Suzanne Collins

It's the second book of Gregor only with a new Prophecy, the profhecys are writen by a dead guy called Balthesar of Sandwich (weird) he led the underlanders under New York City. He could see thing's from the future. Anyway Gregor has to kill a huge ginormous white rat named The Bane it sounds teriffying to gregor but not because of the task ahead of him but because of what is writen in the prophecy:

Die the Baby,

Die his heart,

Die his most esentual part.

What on earth could that possibly mean?. On his last visit to the underland Gregor made some new friends, the future Queen of Regilea (the human palace) Luxa, her sort in a way viser Vikus, a solder Mareth and Vikus's wife Solovet. Stranegly almost every underlander is purple eyed, almost transparent skinned and silver haird but Gregor alo mayed some rather unusual friends. Like an over sized rat with a diagonal Scar across his face named Ripred, a Chockroach called Temp (and a dead one called Tick), a bat called Ares (who is now his bond) and another bat called Aroura. He is also about to make more friends...and enimys for that matter. Gregor doesn't want anything to do with the profhecy he doesn't want to kill the Bane he just wants to go home and live happily ever he doesn't want to be dragged back again.

Gregor The Overlander by Sazanne Collins

Suzanne Collins is my faverout auther after reading the Hunger Games, then I got the book Gregor The Overlander. I just need to read 1 sentance and Suzanne Collins has got me under her controle, litraly my Mum and Dad can't stop me reading her books.

Gregor is from the Overland (our world) his Dad dissapeard one night and Gregor doesn't need to look at a calender to know how long it's been since he saw his Dad. Two years seven months and three days. Gregor now has a Mum, a little sister called Lizzie, another little sister called Margeret or Boots (they nicknamed her Boots because in winter she steales everybodies boots and walkes around in them) and a Grandmar with bad aurther-wrightes and she also sometimes thinks she's in Virginea on Gregors Uncles farm rarther then in a flat in New York. Gregors Mum is a doctor or dentist receptoinist every day(since Gregors Dad dissapeard). It's a saturday and Gregors Mum is at work and Gregor looks after his sisters and Grandmar when Mrs Cormmkie comes in and says.

"Ah Gregor your Mummy told me to look after your sisters whilst you do the washing up, because she tells me that your Grandmar is thinking that she's in Virginea...if only" so Gregor gos down to the laundry room unawhere of his little sister Boots following him until he sees her with her faverout ball. After Gregor has done the laundry he realises that Boots has been qiuet and sees her falling threw the grate in the laundry room. There's more down there than a sewer... a lot more.

The Glittering Eye by L.J Adlington

The Glittering Eye is a great book, I reccomend it because L.J Adlington has written a book about two almost completely diffrent people one a boy called Shabti from Egyptian times and a girl called Amy from England 2012. They are completely different times for insance 20000BC and 2012; however L.J Adlington has bought both times together through just about two pages.

So basically Amy's father is an archaeologist and is filming in Egypt for a show called Action Archaeology. They are filming in the Sahara Dessert with vast red cliffs, rocks, sand and everywhere the unblinking eye of the sun with his other fellow reporters, Jason and Ellie and the crew - I think thier names are Carl and Mak. But Amy should be scared of more things than just getting a sunburn.

Shabti wakes in a barley field. He can't remember his past, he doesn't have any memories and he has no escape from a vicious master with dogs to set to rip the remaining flesh off his bones, but he to should be scared of more than starvation.

Stories From Around The World Retold by Heather Amery

Instead of just writing about one traditoinal story I thought I'd write about a few of my favourites; most of them are in this book.

One of the things I love about all of these stories in this book is that they all have something to say. But the most popular thing in this book is that in almost all of them greediness has a punishment and that is actualy a valuable lesson in life. I adore these stories because I feel like they come alive when I read them.

The Little Prince By Antoine de Saint-Exupery

The Little Prince sounds excellent. My Mum says every time she reads it she says she cries... softy. I feel that it's like the book My Name is Mina in a way because he's not understood by grown ups either by his drawngs of boa constrictors. He says he can't draw like how I say."I can't understand a word of french," But I know it's not true. I look at his drawings of the sheeps and feel jealous because I can't drw a sheep or a goat at least not as well as he does.

My Name is Mina by David Almond

My name is Mina is a exelant book I strongly recommend it and yes incase your wondering it is the same Mina from Skellig. But this time it's from her point of view and as her journal. Mina is a brilliant age ooo round about ten year old girl whose Dad died when she was young as I said in Skellig. I love this book because David Almond made Mina sound very intelligent even though she's home schooled ( taught by her mum ) because she was not understood in her school. One of her motos is `How can a bird that is born for joy sit in a cage and sing` because a cage is quet dim glum and has no persenality at all apart from mean selfish and boring.

Skellig by David Almond

This book is about a boy called Michael whose Mum is about to have a baby. So Dad finds a new home... a run down house in which a old man called Erny died in. Then when they moved in disaster struck like a lightning bolt. The baby comes erly and was put on life support but something good happend Micheal did make a new friend called Mina. A spirited, black haired, adventerous, thin pale round about ten year old girl whose Dad died when she was young. There's also a garage in the garden which fits with the house perfectly ap[art from one thing there are mre secrets to be told but I'm not going top tell you no. You have to find out what they are your self.

Mr Stink by David Williams

Mr Stink is about a young girl who is not close to a normal life. Because her mother is running for MP ( member of Parliament ) and is always smartly dressed in blue suits and pearls. She even sprays air freshener in the garden. But the young girl called Cloe has different plans. To befriend a tramp called Mr Stink who would soon be forced off the street and out the town. Along with other tramps but Cloe wouldn't go with the flow she was determined to save Mr Stink and his dog The Duchess. Therefor Cloe sends Mr stink into her garden shed where other secrets are kept hidden in inky blackness. Most grown ups would have a wash in a bath in a shower or a bath but Mr Stink has his in the pond.

I feel that it's full of adventure, laughter, sadness and many more emotions. It's a amazing book and I recommend it...a lot!!!
